About Ramming Mass

Product Description

Ramming Mass is a dry refractory material used for lining induction furnaces in steel and iron melting operations. It is applied by ramming around the furnace coil to form a dense, monolithic lining capable of withstanding high temperatures, thermal shock, and chemical attack from molten metal and slag.

High-quality ramming mass ensures uniform heat distribution, low thermal expansion, and strong sintering properties, which contribute to longer furnace life and reduced maintenance downtime. It plays a critical role in maintaining furnace efficiency, metal purity, and stable melting performance.

Manufactured using high-purity quartz or alumina-based materials, ramming mass offers excellent refractoriness, low alkali content, and superior resistance to erosion.

Applications

  • Induction furnace lining
  • Steel melting plants
  • Alloy steel production
  • Iron foundries
  • Medium and high-frequency induction furnaces

Advantages

  • Extended furnace lining life
  • Improved thermal stability
  • Reduced power consumption
  • Low metal contamination
  • Strong sintering and crack resistance

Types of Ramming Mass

Acidic Ramming Mass Silica-based lining material primarily used for carbon steel and alloy steel melting applications.

Neutral Ramming Mass Alumina or spinel-based refractory suitable for melting stainless steel and special alloys where chemical neutrality is required.
