Product Overview

Hot Tops are insulating and exothermic refractory sleeves used in ingot casting to control solidification and reduce shrinkage defects. Installed over the feeder head, Hot Tops help maintain molten metal temperature in the upper portion of the ingot, allowing proper feeding during solidification.
By restricting primary and secondary piping within the hot top zone, they help produce sound ingots without internal shrinkage cavities. Hot Tops improve steel yield by reducing metal loss in the feeder head and minimizing rejections caused by piping defects. Their controlled insulation and exothermic properties sustain heat in the riser area, ensuring continuous molten metal feeding until final solidification.
Hot Tops also improve productivity by reducing cropping length, optimizing feeder head size, and enhancing casting efficiency. They are widely used in carbon steel, alloy steel, and special steel ingot production where yield improvement and defect reduction are critical.
Manufactured with silica-based composition, controlled density, and low moisture content, our Hot Tops provide reliable thermal stability and safe handling during casting operations.

Types:

1. Super Imposed Hot Top: Mounted above the mould top for maximum heat retention. Ideal for larger ingots requiring extended feeding time.

2. Over Imposed Hot Top: Positioned over the feeder head to enhance insulation and reduce shrinkage depth.

3. Semi Inserted Hot Top: Partially inserted into the mould top for balanced feeding control and improved yield.

4. Inserted Hot Top: Fully inserted design providing better feeding efficiency and minimized metal loss.

5. Deep Inserted Hot Top: Used for heavy-section ingots where deeper shrinkage compensation is required.

6. Single Piece Hot Top: Compact one-piece construction for easy installation and uniform thermal performance.

7. Flat Type: Flat profile design used in specific mould configurations where vertical height restriction or structural alignment is required.

8. Customized Hot Tops (As per Customer Requirement): Manufactured in tailor-made dimensions and configurations to match specific mould sizes, ingot weights, and casting practices.
