Coil Coat is a specialized refractory coating applied to the copper coils of induction furnaces to provide thermal insulation and mechanical protection. During furnace operation, coils are exposed to intense heat, metal splashes, and abrasive conditions.

Key Features & Applications

  • Heavy steel ingot casting
  • Large section castings requiring top feeding
  • Castings with long freezing range alloys
  • Top risering in foundry molds for directional solidification

Product Overview

Coil Coat is a specialized refractory coating applied to the copper coils of induction furnaces to provide thermal insulation and mechanical protection. During furnace operation, coils are exposed to intense heat, metal splashes, and abrasive conditions. Coil Coat forms a protective insulating layer that prevents direct exposure of the coils to high temperatures and molten metal.

The coating helps reduce heat loss and protects the induction coil from damage caused by slag, metal splatter, and refractory erosion. Its controlled composition ensures good adhesion to the coil surface and maintains stability under high-temperature furnace conditions. By forming a durable protective barrier, Coil Coat increases the service life of furnace coils and improves overall furnace safety.

Coil Coat also assists in maintaining proper electrical insulation and prevents short circuits caused by conductive metal deposits. This contributes to smoother furnace operation and reduced maintenance downtime in steel plants and foundries.
