We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Plant Metallurgist to lead our quality control and furnace operations.

Role Overview

As the Senior Plant Metallurgist at Chanduka Group, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and standards of our steel production. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our products meet the highest industry benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

Melt Control: Your primary responsibility will be to supervise the induction/arc furnace melting operations. This includes monitoring the melting process, ensuring the correct chemical composition of steel heats, and overseeing the quality of the molten metal.

Quality Assurance: You will be in charge of managing the spectrographic analysis lab to conduct thorough testing of the steel samples. Your attention to detail and precision will be crucial in maintaining the quality standards of our products.

Compliance: As the technical authority on the foundry floor, you will be responsible for ensuring that every casting meets our strict mechanical and ISO quality standards. Your expertise in metallurgy will be vital in upholding these standards.

Team Leadership: In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will also lead a team of metallurgists and technicians. Your guidance and expertise will be instrumental in training and developing the team to achieve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Melt Control: Supervise induction/arc furnace melting operations to achieve exact chemical compositions for various steel and iron grades.

• Testing & Analysis: Conduct real-time spectrographic analysis, hardness testing, and microstructural examinations.

• Heat Treatment: Design and oversee heat treatment cycles (annealing, normalizing, quenching, and tempering) to ensure optimal mechanical properties.

• Defect Analysis: Lead root-cause investigations for casting defects (porosity, shrinkage, inclusions) and implement immediate corrective actions on the molding line.

• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all lab and furnace floor operations comply with heavy industrial safety protocols and environmental regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: B.Tech / B.E. in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science.

• Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of hands-on experience in a steel or heavy iron foundry environment.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating optical emission spectrometers (OES) and conducting Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as Ultrasonic or Magnetic Particle testing.

• Leadership: Proven ability to manage shift technicians and communicate effectively with the furnace operators and plant engineers.
